Forgiveness
is the mental, and/or
spiritual
process of ceasing to feel
resentment,
indignation
or
anger
against another person for a perceived
offense, difference or mistake, or ceasing
to demand
punishment
or
restitution[1].
This definition, however, is subject to much
philosophical critique. Forgiveness may be
considered simply in terms of the person who
forgives, in terms of the person forgiven
and/or in terms of the relationship between
the forgiver and the person forgiven. In
some contexts, it may be granted without any
expectation of compensation, and without any
response on the part of the offender (for
example, one may forgive a person who is
dead). In practical terms, it may be
necessary for the offender to offer some
form of acknowledgment,
apology,
and/or restitution, or even just ask for
forgiveness, in order for the wronged person
to believe they are able to forgive.
So you want to be forgiven..
The friars of forgiveness ,the Abbots of
Absolution, the Deacons of Decency are here
to help. Although we call our selves the
Friars of Forgiveness we are not part of any
religion.
If you want to make things
right, tell us what penance you are willing
to pay. There are two ways to ask for
forgiveness.
You can
e-post
your crime anonymously, or send in a post
card, If you want to take it a step further
for a pre-arranged fee ,we will contact that
person and if possible and appropriate we
will post their response or direct them to
our site to post it themselves.
Give us your victims'
information, not yours. Preferably a phone
number but a name, address, date might work.
Give us whatever you have
.
Our fees start at $10.00 for
placing a simple phone call, and go up based
on the difficulty of locating the person.
They probably hate you or
hope you rot in Jail, Don't worry about that
The Friars of forgiveness are going to try
and fix it. Remember, whether or not you are
forgiven, you should at least ask.
It is true
forgiveness is a universal theme in
religion. No matter what culture you are
from or what religion you practice
forgiveness is a cleansing. A spiritual
lifting of weight. Although we call
ourselves the Friars of Forgiveness We are
not associated with any church
One
organizations that stresses confessions of
wrong doing and asking for forgiveness is
Alcoholics Anonymous. We are not affiliated
with Alcoholics Anonymous but we like their
ideas.
The twelve
step programs all of which were derived from
A.A. state;
The eighth
step, " Made a list of all those that we had
harmed and became willing to make amends to
them all", and the Ninth step which says, "
Made direct amends to such people wherever
possible, except when to do so would injure
them or others.
Our web site
is directed toward people who have realized
the damage
that they have done to someone in the past
and needs things to be rectified.
I know in A.A.
the question often came up about what do you
do when the the person you need to make
amends to is not available?
That is where
the Friars come in, you can confess
anonymously, and for a pre-arranged fee ,we
will contact that person then if possible
and appropriate we will post their response
or direct them to our site to post it
themselves. Our fees start at $10.00 for
placing a phone call, and go up based on the
difficulty of locating the person.
We hope many
A.A. members will find it useful, not to
mention the many others who will find it of
great benefit in their own spiritual growth.
Don' t ask
for forgiveness if for instance it would
serve no useful to purpose or harm the
person you are asking forgiveness from.
There are times when it
appears that
there is a very thin line between stupidity
and honesty. Don't be stupid
When
anonymity is of the utmost importance. I
suggest you use a public computer or mail in
a post card. The important thing is that no
unintended person get a hold of some ones
confessions.
Just think if
we were part of the Church and A.A. we would
be the Drunk Monks.
